Neena speaks out against animal-tested cosmetics

Speaking to MEPs in the European Parliament
,West Midlands MEP Neena Gill spoke out against the use of animals in cosmetics testing.

To President of the European Parliament Hans Gert Poettering, she said: “The testing of cosmetics is an issue that concerns many of my constituents in the West Midlands. In particular, I receive a lot of correspondence about the testing of cosmetics on animals.”

Neena spoke on the need for pan-European legislation to combat animal testing: “This report is to be welcomed as it establishes pan-European standards on the use of potentially harmful materials, and sets standards for testing claims that cosmetic manufacturers make.”

“This represents an important tool in increasing customer awareness of what goes into cosmetics. Customer awareness will only be enhanced by a focus on animal testing.”
